Academic background

Following medical training at Cambridge University and Newcastle University, I entered specialist training in Dermatology in Glasgow.  I worked in the internationally recognised melanoma unit at the Western Infirmary with Professor Rona Mackie and developed my interest in the diagnosis of skin cancer.

I came to Cornwall as a Consultant Dermatologist in 1999 and joined the team of Dr David Gould and Dr Bill Bowers.  During my time in Cornwall I have developed services for patients with skin disease including Mohs micrographic surgery.

I have also trained in London with senior Cosmetic Dermatologists including Dr Nick Lowe in the field of facial rejuvenation.

I have been clinical lead for Dermatology and am currently the lead clinician for skin cancer in Cornwall.

I have been involved in regular research throughout my career and have published extensively in peer reviewed journals.

As one of the most experienced Dermatologists in the South West I am regularly invited to speak at national academic meetings and to teach GPs and medical students.
