Urology at Duchy Hospital

Urology is a specialty which covers the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the urinary system and reproductive tracts in men and of urinary disease in women. The organs included are: kidneys, ureters (connecting tubes between the kidneys and the bladder), adrenal glands, bladder, urethra (tube that passes urine out of your body from the bladder) and male reproductive organs (prostate, testes, epididymis, vas deferens, seminal vesicles and penis).

At Duchy Hospital our team of expert consultant urologists offer convenient appointments for general urology services as well as specialist areas of urology including:

  • urogynaecology - lower urinary tract symptoms and stress incontinence due to pelvic floor dysfunction and, pelvic floor and vaginal prolapse problems.
  • andrology - male reproductive and urological problems unique to men, such as penile curvature, erectile dysfunction, testicular lumps, incontinence, scrotal disorders, hydroceles and BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia. a non-cancerous enlargement or growth of the prostate gland).
  • urolithiasis - urinary tract stones.
  • urological cancers - investigation of raised PSA and blood in urine. Surgical treatment of prostate, bladder, kidney, ureter, penis and testis cancers.

Procedures we regularly perform include: cystoscopy, TURBT, TURP, minimally invasive urolift for prostate problems, adult circumcision, penile straightening, prostate biopsy, bladder cancer treatments, vasectomy and its reversal and stress incontinence treatments.
